Going to the Beach to Relieve Stress Amid Coronavirus

During trying times, it is important that you take care of yourself, both mentally and physically. Although it feels intimidating to go outside right now, going to the beach is a great place to relieve stress during coronavirus. It won’t be overcrowded, you’ll get some fresh air, and your mind and body will thank you. There are many health benefits of the beach that you may be unaware about and we are here to enlighten you.

Relieving Stress

One of the main benefits of the beach is its remarkable ability to relieve stress. The calming effects of the ocean and sun instantly relax your body and release serotonin, bringing you to a place of peace. The soothing sounds of the ocean combined with the unreal visuals can completely change your day around. There is a reason why sleeping machines are popular for the sounds of waves.

Better Sleep

The beach helps reduce anxiety levels, hormonal imbalances, and physical fatigue (three of the biggest factors to sleep issues!) By regulating hormones, the sun allows your body to find a sense of calmness which brings you to a full night’s sleep.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is one of the most essential vitamins to have in your diet. Although you can find some in foods, that is not enough to fully sustain you. Luckily, by standing in the sun for even a few minutes each day, you are able to absorb the appropriate amount of Vitamin D to keep you healthy and happy.

Exercise

Whether you are walking on the beach or just taking a stroll, you are getting much needed exercise after being cooped up in your home. Walking on sand is far more difficult than pavement, utilizing far more muscles in the legs than usual.

Breathe Easier

When stepping onto a beach, you will find yourself inhaling deeply. This is due to the fact that the air quality is at its peak. This fresh air is charged with negative ions which increase oxygen absorption in the lungs. The chest muscles surrounding your lungs are able to relax and intake the surrounding air fully.

Find Peace Within Yourself

At the beach, you naturally take in your environment. The immensity of the ocean, the sun up above, the sand in your feet. By welcoming these natural elements into your life, you are able to have a clear mind and a sense of relaxation which allows you to let go of the stress of the day.

As you can see, the beach is a free and successful way of staying calm during stressful moments in your life. If you are interested in expanding your horizons even more, we are staying open during coronavirus and allowing a safe place for you to whale watch and sail out at sea to get your mind off of the modernized world.
