Daily Whale Watching Trips Near Carlsbad All Year Round.

Just over 30 miles south of Carlsbad is one of the premiere locations on the west coast for whale watching. Based in San Diego bay, Next Level Sailing strives to provide guests the experience of a lifetime. In 2003, Troy Sears, a long-time San Diego Yacht Club member, and his business partners purchased two International America’s Cup Class racing yachts and moved them to San Diego’s Broadway Pier; thus, Next Level Sailing was born.

At Next Level Sailing, our trusted crew of top-level sailors are the best in the industry, allowing us to achieve a 98-percent success rate during the 2017–2018 whale watching season. All of our crew members are qualified in first aid and other Coast Guard-required credentials. Since 2006, we’ve hosted over 200,000 passengers. Whale watching in Carlsbad was not always something to be enjoyed year-round—up until 2005, gray whale migration was the main attraction, taking place during the winter and spring. Now, we are lucky enough to observe blue whales off our coast from the months of May to October before setting out on their winter migration towards Mexico and Costa Rica.

Join us aboard the Yacht America, Next Level Sailing’s 139-foot replica of the world’s most famous racing yacht. Our boat can boast up to 76 passengers, allowing for plenty of room for a luxurious and intimate experience throughout the entirety of the whale watching seasons.

In addition to our standard whale watching tours, Next Level Sailing offers a selection of private tours, curated for your event and your team. If you are planning a corporate event in Carlsbad, consider chartering the Yacht America for your company and clients. Our crew also offers catering and dining options, upon request. Whether you’re planning a private event or are entertaining out-of-town guests, look no further than Next Level Sailing for your next whale watching experience. Carlsbad whale watching is among the best in the world, and we can’t wait for you to experience it for yourselves.
