2021 Beach Clean-Ups In San Diego

Due to politics and the media, the detrimental effects of climate change are more widely discussed than ever. As a result, human beings have been trying to figure out how to help, especially those located in close proximity to the beach in Southern California. The answer is more simple than you would expect: get informed, reduce the use of plastic and participate in San Diego ocean clean ups.

Get Informed

Knowledge is power. Understanding climate change and how it affects your hometown will ignite a sense of ownership and the ability to inform others as well.

Why Beach Clean Ups Are Important

Beach clean ups are important for many reasons, but the most crucial one of all is keeping the ocean clean. Human life is dependent on the ocean: climate regulation, carbon sink, renewable energy, the air we breathe…the list goes on. It’s vital to keep our oceans clean from any pollutants, especially plastic.

Reduce the Use of Plastic

A big reason why climate change is even happening is due to the influx of plastic usage over the years. When plastic is deposited into the ocean, it not only endangers sea creatures, but its toxins also poison the ocean waters. As a result, the ocean is turning acidic, which is breaking down the coral reef. Since the coral reef absorbs carbon dioxide, our air supply is being cut short. By reducing the amount of plastic you use on a daily basis, you are taking a step closer to cleaner oceans.

Beach Cleans-Up During Covid

The pandemic lockdown resulted in less people on the beach as large gatherings were prohibited. Therefore, there was less track on the beach! Although this was a positive, there were less opportunities for San Diego beach clean ups. Now that the restrictions are lifted and more trash will be expected, the good news is that there will be more scheduled beach clean ups on the horizon!

2021 Beach Clean Ups

As the weather warms up and more people head for a day by the sea, the need to keep our beaches clean will only increase. As the Covid era comes to a close, beach clean ups 2021 are crucial as larger groups of people start to gather. There is no better way to give back to your community than by doing so with the perfect reward after-jumping in the ocean!
