San Diego Museum of Art

Located in Balboa Park, the San Diego Museum of Art provides a diverse cultural experience while housing the world’s finest art. The mission of the museum is to inspire and educate through the great works of art, with pieces ranging from Spanish old masters to 19th and 20th century American sculptures and paintings. USS Midway Museum

Located in downtown San Diego, the USS Midway Museum is a historical naval aircraft museum. The longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century, the USS Midway was the only carrier to serve the entire length of the Cold War. The ship holds an extensive amount of aircrafts and visitors are able to embark on a self guided audio tour to learn about the history of each. Don’t forget to walk south of the museum to see the Unconditional Surrender statue resembling the famed “V-J day in Times Square” photo from 1945.

San Diego Natural History Museum

Located in Balboa Park and founded in 1874, the San Diego Natural History Museum is the oldest scientific institution in Southern California. As stated on their site, the mission of the museum is “To interpret the natural world through research, education and exhibits; to promote understanding of the evolution and diversity of southern California and the peninsula of Baja California; and to inspire in all a respect for nature and the environment.”
