Don’t just watch the race… COMPETE in it!
After such a successful race last year, we are opening our deck up once again to the public for this phenomenal experience. We will be racing in the 2019 America’s Schooner Cup and we invite YOU to come help us hoist the sails and compete for the cup!
We will begin boarding at 11 AM and will be ending our excursion by around 4 PM.
You do NOT want to miss this one
When possible, we recommend using Uber or Lyft. If driving, use the following address for your navigation app: Maritime Museum of San Diego. There is metered parking at the museum available for three hours, which is enforced until 8 p.m. If you have a handicap parking permit, the metered parking is free and there is no time limit. Free public parking is available on Pacific Hwy (one block to the east), Grape Street, or Hawthorne. Paid parking lots are available; the closest is on Ash Street. The app www.parkme.com is very helpful.
- No Sea Sickness Guarantee
We want you to get out there, which is why we offer the world’s only no sickness guarantee. If you lose your lunch, we replace it with a $25 gift certificate. Last year, only 1 out of every 400 guests felt motion sickness. We can make this offer because the America is a very stable yacht. So get out there!
Every guest can also enjoy free admission to the San Diego Maritime Museum. Get here early or stay after the trip and enjoy the exhibits and ships, including the Star of India.
We are the greenest operator in San Diego. We go sails up on every trip. We typically motor-sail as we leave the San Diego Bay and then just sail on our return. We consumed less than 1,000 gallons of fuel all of last season. By comparison, one vessel in San Diego’s whale-watching fleet consumes over 100 gallons an hour! Our auxiliary engines are the latest generation EPA Tier-3 John Deere 6068AFM85 with the highest tier rating available.
